It is NOT POSSIBLE to program keys remotely. Both you and the car itself must be here at our shop in Berkeley, California
Every day we get calls from around the country asking us to make and ship a smart key. Sorry, but it’s just not possible. Not because we don’t want to, but because it’s it just not possible. As of today (2020), there is no way to clone a smart key. Both the car and the key must be in the same location at the same time to program a key, or more accurately, program the key to the car and the car to the key. Data is written to both during the registration.
That was the bad news. The good news is that if you’re in Berkeley or the East Bay, we can usually make a key for far less than a dealership.
We’re licensed locksmith, so we can make you a new key even if you have no keys for the car. If you’ve lost all of your keys, we’ll need proof of identity (driver’s license, passport, etc.) and proof of ownership (current vehicle registration or pink slip). We’ll need this documentation even if you are known to us and we’ve been servicing your car for years. Making a new key when no keys exist is more time consuming than making a key using an existing key. It’s a very good idea to always have at least two keys for your car and to make a new one right away if you lose a key. It also makes sense to delete the missing key. We can always re-register it if you find it later.
We make smart keys for Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Mazda, and Nissan cars only.
